Gabby is a children’s writer, scriptwriter, poet and occasional illustrator. She has been 'poet-in-residence' for the children’s art and science magazine, ‘OKIDO’ since 2007 and co-adapted and developed the magazine for children's television, where it became hit CBeebies animated pre-school show: ‘Messy goes to OKIDO!' Gabby wrote episodes for series one and two, which has finished production and will be coming to a CBeebies screen near you soon! She's also written for the Children's TV Classic series, Postman Pat, SDS.

Children’s picture books include: ‘A POSSUM'S TAIL’ (nominated for the CILIP Kate Greenaway Medal) and ‘LONDON CALLS!’ both published in 2014 by Tate Publishing. ‘London Calls’ was turned into a fast-paced, musical puppet show by the BUS KING THEATRE (a puppet theatre aboard an old Routemaster bus) and the book also has a London-themed range of merchandise & a super-duper sticker activities book. In February 2017, came two more books: ‘IF I HAD A DINOSAUR’, published by Thames & Hudson and ‘A ROLLERCOASTER RIDE AROUND THE BODY’, published by Franklin Watts/Hachette. 'IF I HAD A DINOSAUR' won the best pre-school picture-books Made for Mums Silver Award 2018 AND was read by Eddie Redmayne on Christmas Day 2018 on CBeebies Bedtime Stories! Meanwhile, 'A ROLLER-COASTER RIDE AROUND THE BODY' was runner-up in the ASA Book Award 2017.

The books so far are illustrated by Gabby’s long-term talented collaborator, Alex Barrow. Next up for the team is 'A HOUSE FOR MOUSE', published by Thames & Hudson in September 2018, followed by A SONG FOR BEAR' in Spring 2019.

Along with 'A Song for Bear,' Spring 2019 finally brings 'A POSSUM'S TAIL' prequel, called: 'SAMUEL DREW HASN'T A CLUE' from Tate Publishing.

And also due for release in 2019 are two books in collaboration with the amazing illustrator, designer, animator and all-round talented Lesley Barnes (of 'Jill and Dragon' and 'Jill and Lion' fame). They are the eye-popping paper-engineered: 'BAUHAUS BALLET POP-UP BOOK' published by Lawrence King to mark the centenary celebration of the Bauhaus movement and ballet itself.
Last up is 'HULLABALOO AT THE BOW-WOW BALLET!' (title TBC) a dancing dog extravaganza published by Thames & Hudson, with stunning illustrations by Lesley.

Oh, and then there's the next is the 'If I had a...' series coming SOON!

Gabby continues to work as sub-editor, scribbler and resident rhymer for awesome ‘OKIDO’ magazine, and is part of the writing team for the excellent 'ECO KIDS PLANET' magazine, as well as contributing to several other independent children’s publications such as STEW and online mag JUMP!. Gabby and illustrator Alex regularly run workshops for kids based around their books, illustration and magazine work.

p.s. Gabby has a little grey whippet called Hero, who is a qualified Pets As Therapy 'Reading Dog'. This does not necessarily mean Hero knows how to read (although she obviously does - duh!) but that she is very good at listening to kids who find it difficult to read out loud or struggle with reading.
