ROLLER-COASTER ON THE 2017 ASE BOOK AWARD SHORTLIST

Two of the shortlisted books...

I went up to Liverpool a few weeks ago to attend the ASE Book Award 2017, which was taking place during the annual ASE ('Association of Science Education') Conference at Liverpool University.

It was bitterly cold, utterly wet and extremely windy. Our book A Roller-coaster Around the Body (published by Franklin Watts/Hachette) didn't win first prize BUT I fell for Liverpool big time. Tate Liverpool is ace (super-knowledgeable, helpful and charming museum folk - as well as everyone else in Liverpool seemed to be...) and there I discovered, among many things that included a chocolate muffin and delicious cup of Earl Grey tea, the new (to me), brilliantly bonkers and utterly awesome artists, Mary Reid Kelley and Patrick Kelley. I was transported and blown-away by their bizarre, poetic and provocative installations/films.
